Decorator Show House opens July 16 at Emerson House
YORK, Maine — Every summer for the past 22 years, Museums of Old York has hosted thousands of visitors at its annual Decorator Show House fundraiser. This year will be no exception.
This year's Show House runs from Saturday, July 16 through Saturday, August 13 and will be held at Emerson House, located at 31 Long Sands Road in the heart of historic York Village. The event raises critical funds to support the museums' education programs, exhibitions and preservation initiatives. For more information about the event, visit www.oldyork.org
Emerson House is a beautiful Georgian Colonial residence whose earliest roots date back to circa 1719 as a Tavern bidding travelers a place to seek lodging and entertainment. John Adams is known to have stayed in one of the tavern rooms believed to be the current home's living and dining rooms.
Join the Museums of Old York and media sponsor Maine Home+Design to celebrate the 22nd Anniversary of the Decorator Show House with a Preview Gala on Friday, July 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will feature a jazz ensemble, fabulous food by the Kitchen Chicks and an open bar. Tickets are $50 and may be purchased by calling (207) 363-4974.
The Show House is sponsored by Maine Home+Design and will be open to the public from July 16 through August 13. Located at 31 Long Sands Road in York Village, Emerson House can be viewed Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Thursday until 7 p.m. and Sunday, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. It is closed on Tuesdays. Parking will be available in village lots and admission is $20. Tickets to the Show House are also good for a free tour of the new exhibit at the Museums' Visitor Center in Remick Barn and a reduced ticket price of $5.00 to see all the historic buildings at Museums of Old York.
On Wednesdays throughout the show house run, luncheon lectures will be held at three local York restaurants. Tickets are $55 for each luncheon event.
